The 25th anniversary of the Good Friday agreement 

Today is the  25th anniversary of April 10th 1998 when the Good Friday agreement was signed in Northern Ireland. This successfully brought decades of ‘the troubles’ involving bombings and murders to an end. President Biden will be in Belfast later in the week to mark the occasion.

🎭 I began the week at a meeting at Keighley Creative which is a charity based currently on Cooke Lane in the heart of the town. We discussed how best to take arts provision forward in the area. The aim is to get a permanent building so Keighley and Ilkley Constituency can take full advantage of Bradford City of Culture.

PRESS RELEASE

Keighley is a proud manufacturing town with many medium and small employers still very much the backbone of the local economy. This week is National Apprenticeship Week. On Friday I attended the Labour Party Northern Skills Conference in Heckmondwike with Lord David Blunkett as the main speaker. My friends Hugh Goulbourne and Kim Leadbeater MP for Batley and Spen organised the event.
