A KEIGHLEY surgery rescued from closure has scored well below the national average in a patient satisfaction survey. North Street Medical Practice fared poorly in the annual GP Patient Survey. Only a little over 50 per cent of its patients responding said they found their overall experience to be good. Just over 30 per cent said it was easy to get through to someone on the phone at North Street.

ILKLEY'S MP John Grogan has stepped in to a row over redundancy pay at an Ilkley care home.Mr Grogan visited Hollycroft Care Home in Hebers Ghyll Drive after its closure was announced in June. During that visit Mr Grogan said AN MP has called for a “deep breath” to be taken over the issue of Yorkshire devolution after a minister suggested the south of the region should be grateful for the powers and money it has been promised. Keighley MP John Grogan urged council leaders, MPs and ministers to return to the issue with “open minds” after the summer and held out hope that a single deal to given Yorkshire more control over its own affairs could yet be struck.

Budding reporters from two Keighley schools this week grilled local MP John Grogan about his plans for the town. The pupils from Our Lady of Victories and St Joseph’s interviewed the Labour politician over concerns they have about Keighley. And the bright pupils asked searching questions that would put hardened journalists to shame.
