All passengers on the Keighley town network will benefit from a £1 flat fare, while the K3 and K7 services will increase in frequency – running every ten minutes and every 12 minutes respectively.

£1 fares will also apply on the M4 and 66 buses from Keighley through Steeton as far as the hospital. The £1 flat fare is a big boost to Keighley bus passengers suffering from the cost of living crisis. Keighley will be the only town in West Yorkshire to benefit from these fares although the flat £2 fare will be maintained elsewhere so long as funds allow.

If the new fare boosts passenger numbers I would hope in the future that the evidence gained can encourage cheaper fares policies nationwide which would be good for both the pocket and the environment. West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin has certainly got her priorities right on this one. Her next ambition is to get greater powers to regulate bus routes and times which I fully support.
