Keighley Library is staying open despite pressures on funding, says the town’s MP. John Grogan issued the public assurance on the week Bradford Council’s latest round of budget cuts was due to bite on the Libraries and Museums Service. Mr Grogan said the changes centred around management structures and were unlikely to affect Keighley Library users. He spoke after local people expressed concerns about the future of the North Street building amidst rumours on social media, staff uncertainty, and council discussions with outside bodies over future uses.

POLITICIANS have appealed for Keighley people to tell police what they know about last week’s shooting at a local petrol station. Keighley MP John Grogan this week called for information from the public so the “thugs” responsible for the gun incident at the Jet filling station on South Street could be locked up. He said: “I am pleased the police have made arrests and I very much hope prosecutions will follow. Guns on the streets of Keighley simply cannot be tolerated and a line in the sand must be drawn.”

TRAINS will run from Skipton and Keighley to Bradford on Boxing Day for the first time in decades. The Airedale line is among several routes across the north of England where services will operate. Keighley MP John Grogan, who has long campaigned for Boxing Day train services, welcomes the move. But he voices concerns that there will be no services to Leeds, where extensive work is being carried out on the station.
