Parking is raised with me more than any other issue by constituents living in Ilkley Ward. As a result, Bradford Council published an Ilkley Parking Review. It was conducted in July 2017and can be found via the following link:
Bradford Council's Ilkley Parking Report
The review was undertaken to address issues regarding congestion and parking in the town. The study used a range of primary data collection and stakeholder consultation to better define the perceived parking issues in the town.
It also explored options for better management of car parking and improvements to alternative modes of travel. The study focused on the centre of Ilkley and the surrounding streets which were identified by initial consultations with councillors and site visits as the areas where parking pressure was perceived to be greatest.
In November 2017 my office sent a questionnaire to every household in Ilkley about parking in the town. This both asked for opinions on the ideas discussed in the Bradford Council document and sought other suggestions.
712 households replied in total, either by post, email or by leaving the completed questionnaire at Ilkley Library. The results are published below together with a flavour of the most common responses made. Some of the most substantial responses are also included in the Appendix.
I hope the evidence contained within this report will be useful to the Council as they decide how to proceed.
