A CLUTCH of good eggs were the special guests at an event in Highfield for International Women’s Day. Well over 180 people attended the gathering, including nine women nominated as Good Eggs for ‘going the extra mile’ to support their local community.

The nominees were Sian Reid, Shamim Akhtar, Samantha Craven, Razia Begum, Evelyn Shire, France-Leigh Hadrysiak, Chrissie Scott, Megan Nettleton and Kate Toch.

Also among those present at highlight of the event were representatives from local organisations like Healthwatch, Bradford Council, Step 2, GOGA (Get out Get Active), the Bangladeshi Community Association, Keighley College and Roshni Ghar.

wards were presented by Keighley police inspector Khalid Khan, MP John Grogan, the Lord Mayor of Bradford and Keighley Central councillor Abid Hussain, town councillor Fulzar Ahmed, and Shaid Iqbal from Keighley Community Support.

Highfield Community Association received an award for Outstanding Community Centre in Keighley.

Good Egg nominations were invited for people who picked up litter, ran community groups volunteered their time in their neighbourhoods.

The Highfield event focused on the International Women's Day theme, #pressforprogress, and featured family activities, speakers, stalls and refreshments.
